Wellington faces gridlock as train strikes begin

Thousands of Wellington commuters are facing disruption this morning after train drivers walked off the job. More than 400 staff members for Metlink providers Transdev and Hyundai Rotem began a 24-hour strike on Thursday morning. Police are warning drivers to expect a "massive increase in traffic' and to drive carefully. High schools in Wellington have put out warnings and reminders to their students to find other ways to get into town for NCEA exams.
