From Morning Report, 7:53 am on 20 November 2017

A New Zealand yachtsman has been rescued in 40-knot winds and six to seven metre swells about 90 nautical miles from Norfolk Island. Phil van der Mespel, 56, was on his way from Vanuatu to New Zealand on board the single-masted Waimanu when the mast fell and ripped a hole in the deck. The senior search and rescue officer from the rescue coodination centre, Geoff Lunt, joins us to explain how Mr van der Mespel was rescued.
