Teachers restraining children more than 130 times a month

The Education Ministry has released figures showing every month there a more than 130 cases of teachers using physical force to stop children hurting themselves or others. Schools have had to notify the ministry since the start of August every time one of their teachers physically restrains a student. The ministry says physical restraint is a serious intervention that should only be used as a last resort.
