Scott Watson murder conviction appeal hangs on two hairs

From Morning Report, 7:32 am on 27 November 2017

A supporter of convicted double murderer Scott Watson has obtained forensic advice suggesting scientific evidence that was crucial in his conviction has proved weak by modern standards. Watson has applied to the Governor-General for a Royal Prerogative of Mercy, seeking a retrial. It's the second time he's been to the Governor-General for a Royal Prerogative of Mercy after unsuccessful appeals to the Court of Appeal and the Privy Council claiming his innocence. This time his appeal is supported by 1000-page application which includes reference material, affidavits and videos of ketch sightings. It also includes a report by forensic consultant Sean Doyle, which was commissioned by supporter Brian McDonald. Mr McDonald joins us with the details.
