Teacher aides could stand in for teachers in Auckland

From Morning Report, 8:37 am on 14 December 2017

Auckland primary schools fear they will have to use teacher aides in place of teachers next year and they want the government to pay for it. The city's principals have asked the Education Minister, Chris Hipkins, to fund the wages of teacher aides who fill in for teachers. They say they should not have to use their operations grant to pay someone who is taking the place of a registered teacher. RNZ's education correspondent, John Gerritsen, filed this report.
