Anniversary of Tasman's arrival celebrated in Golden Bay

A delegation from the Netherlands joined Golden Bay iwi, New Zealand government officials and local government members at an historic gathering of Maori and Pakeha. at the weekend. The Dutch group are in New Zealand to commemorate today's 375th anniversary of the arrival of the explorer Abel Tasman in the area. Among them is the mayor of Grootegast - a municipality which includes the town where Tasman was born. Ard van der Tuuk is on his first visit to New Zealand, and told our reporter Tracy Neal that his first impressions of the bay might reflect what Tasman saw.
