Oscars 2018 feature more women, diversity

From Morning Report, 7:39 am on 24 January 2018

The just-announced nominees for the 90th Academy awards include more women and minority film-makers this year. It's timely considering the #metoo movement, and #oscarssowhite controversy two years ago. The nominees include Greta Gerwig - the first woman to be nominated in the best director category for her debut film the Lady Bird. Leading the nomination count is Guillermo del Toro's The Shape of Water, with 13, including best picture and best director. Los Angeles correspondent Brad Pomerance joins Susie Ferguson to discuss the significant nominations.
