From Morning Report, 8:51 am on 8 February 2018

After two years of preparation, 23 scientists and 17 crew set sail from Wellington today for a six-week, non-stop expedition to Antarctica. They'll be working around the clock, including the cooks. Among the provisions on Niwa's research ship the Tangaroa are 400kg of potatoes, 20 legs of lamb, 30kg of kiwifruit and 28kg of coffee. Voyage leader Dr David Bowden joins Susie Ferguson to share their plans.
