Julie Anne Genter vies for Greens co-leadership

From Morning Report, 7:45 am on 9 February 2018

Nominations for the Green Party co-leadership close today, and it's now a two-horse race, with the Minister for Women, Julie Anne Genter, throwing her hat in the ring on Thursday. Voting starts on March 26 and closes on April 6. Ms Genter is also the Associate Minister for Health and Associate Minister for Transport, and she's using those ministerial roles as a competitive edge against Marama Davidson who earlier nominated herself for co-leadership. The position has been vacant since the resignation of Metiria Turei last August, which plunged the Greens into a pre-election crisis that saw two veteran Green MPs - Kennedy Graham and David Clendon - quit in protest when Ms Turei refused to go. Julie Anne Genter publicly criticised Mr Graham and Mr Clendon at the time. She joins us to discuss her leadership bid.
