Mueller charges 13 Russians with interfering in US election

From Morning Report, 8:51 am on 19 February 2018

Thirteen Russians and three entities have been criminally charged for interfering with the 2016 United States presidential election on behalf of Donald Trump and against Hillary Clinton. A 37-page indictment alleges that Russian operatives "communicated with unwitting individuals associated with the Trump campaign". It does not however address the question of whether Mr Trump or his team knowingly colluded with the Russians. Meanwhile, Mr Trump couldn't help himself on Twitter - rather than discussing the deaths caused by gun violence in Florida last week, he instead chose to link the shooting with the Russia investigation. He wrote: "Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable. They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign - there is no collusion. Get back to the basics and make us all proud!"
