Goff 'not directly involved' in stalled car imports report

From Morning Report, 6:20 am on 19 March 2018

Auckland Mayor Phil Goff is distancing himself from efforts of senior staff on the council to stall the release of a major report. The study about the impact of moving the imported car trade away from Auckland's waterfront was withheld from RNZ by the Auckland Council for five months last year. It was released only following intervention of the Ombudsman. Email exchanges released by the council to RNZ include a discussion on how the report could be withheld to allow the council to better "manage" its release. Mr Goff talked to RNZ's Auckland correspondent Todd Niall.
