Farmers react to Fonterra fallout

From Morning Report, 8:16 am on 22 March 2018

Farmers want the size of the salary for the next Fonterra chief executive to be given some hard thought.

Yesterday Theo Spierings, who earns $8 million a year, announced he will leave the dairy co-operative. His resignation came the same day as the company announced a $348 million loss for the six months to September.

Lloyd Downing, who has been farming for 50 years near Morrinsville, and vice chairman of Federated Farmers, Wayne Langford, are on the line.
