Obama fans, invitees make most of public leg of NZ visit

The 44th president of the United States was the main event at an invite-only dinner for 800 guests in Auckland last night. But, on the streets of Auckland, outside the dinner venue, and outside Government House - where an official powhiri was held - there were plenty of ordinary people hoping to catch a glimpse of an extraordinarily public figure.
