Trade Minister David Parker reacts to Trump's China tariffs

From Morning Report, 8:10 am on 23 March 2018

Amid fears of a global trade war Donald Trump has trained his guns firmly at China, announcing US$50-60 billion-worth of new tariffs on mainly high tech imports from that country. But while he was talking tough on China - for the benefit of his domestic audience - he has left room for negotiation, with the tariffs not coming into effect for two months. He also said a number of other countries, including those in the European Union, Canada, Mexico and Australia would be exempt from his planned tariffs on steel and aluminium imports. New Zealand however, is not on that list. Trade Minister David Parker talks to Susie Ferguson.
