Waikato DHB confident expenses rules now up to scratch

From Morning Report, 8:42 am on 23 March 2018

Acting chair of Waikato District Health Board, Sally Webb, is confident the rules over expenses at the DHB are now up to scratch. Yesterday the State Services Commission found more than half of the $218,000 the DHB's former chief executive Nigel Murray spent on travel and accommodation over three years were unjustified. The report says the DHB's board had not carried out normal checks and balances which allowed Dr Murray's spending to continue for too long. And it said no checks were made with Dr Murray's employer when he applied for the job. Ms Webb says that shouldn't have happened.
