Northland 'gutted' to lose transport funding to Auckland

Northland people are gutted the government has announced a $28 billion spend on transport in Auckland just a week after dumping plans for a major roading upgrade in their region. The previous government had planned to make the road from Whangarei to Warkworth into a four-lane highway. Northland's Transport Committee chairperson, John Bain, told our Northland reporter Lois Williams it appears the project has been shelved to help pay for the Auckland scheme.
