13 Reasons Why violence 'unnecessary' - teen

From Morning Report, 8:25 am on 24 May 2018

Yesterday we received a lot of feedback after our interview with the Chief Censor about the Netflix show 13 Reasons Why. One of those who got in touch was Nelson school pupil Alex Jensen who says warnings about 13 Reasons Why are failing to protect teenagers from extremely disturbing material. The second series of 13 Reasons Why began screening last Friday. Film and television reviewer Sarah McMullan says some scenes are so traumatic they should not have been aired. The Chief Censor and the Mental Health Foundation have also raised the alarm about explicit content. Alex Jensen tells Susie Ferguson the show depicts really graphic scenes of sexual assault and violence that need better warnings.
