EU trade deal could see $2 billion annual gains for NZ
Trade talks between New Zealand and the European Union are now formally under way, in a deal that could add an extra $2 billion a year to this country's exports. The European Trade Commissioner, Cecilia Malmstrom, met Trade Minister David Parker and Foreign Minister Winston Peters yesterday, promising to pursue open markets at a time when borders are closing and fears of trade wars are growing. Cecilia Malmstrom tells Guyon Espiner both countries are committed to an agreement that will boost jobs and wages, though she admits agriculture will be a sensitive issue.
