MPs aim to prevent prisoners voting but almost achieve opposite

An attempt to deprive all prisoners of voting rights almost backfired in Parliament. After the Electoral (Disqualification of Convicted Prisoners) Amendment Bill was reported back to the house, a University of Otago law professor pointed out the bill would actually do the opposite.
