Social campaigner Tom Newnham dies

From Morning Report, 8:25 am on 17 December 2010

The social activist once described by the Truth newspaper as the country's most hated man, Tom Newnham, has died in Auckland, aged 84. His campaigning for racial equality and human rights through the 1960s, 70s and 80s led to the development of the Citizen's Advice Bureau, a nuclear-free New Zealand, and prison reform.
