Auckland Council's performance on Māori issues is to be tested in two research projects by the Independent Māori Statutory Board; Northland's Te Rōroa iwi is appealing to people not to scatter the ashes of loved ones under the famous kauri trees of Waipoua  forest; Two Te Arawa Standing Committee members say they want better Māori representation on the local council, however they don't agree on how that can be done.
