The Hawke's Bay District Health Board says it's making every effort to reduce the high rate of Maori infant mortality in the region; Otago University's Acting Director of Maori Development, says the first ever Maori focused edition of the university's annual research highlights, is a major boost for Maori; A Whangarei member of the group Children Against Poverty, says the Government should set aside health funds for all children, instead of paying it to their parents; A Ngati Awa Runanga member involved in the re-opening of a meeting house which the iwi originally dubbed fit for Queen Victoria to stay in if she ever visited Whakatane, hopes tours of the pa will help attract visitors to the city.
