The Minister of Maori Affairs says he is looking at ways to start an investment service to help kick start fledgling Maori businesses who don't have the capital to set themselves up. An extensive Families Commission report due out today says whanau have to be strong and resilient in the face of difficult circumstances, including financial hardship. A Far North iwi on the verge of voting on a Treaty settlement offer says it is struggling to track down members to hear their views. Ngati Kahungunu wants to build a multi-million dollar cultural and innovation centre in Napier, which will become the focal point for the iwi.
