Submissions to the Maori Economic Development Panel on ways to improve the performance and productivity of the whole Maori economy in New Zealand have now closed; The Mana Wahine Action Group in Whangarei is pitching in to help locked out meat workers and their families at AFFCO's Moerewa plant in Northland; The Meat Workers Union Site Secretary at the Moerewa plant says the fact more only 18 union members have decided to sign individual contracts and go back to work, shows the strong resolve of workers to tough it out; A Blenheim marae says a significant renovation project has provided the opportunity to establish new relationships with the community, and reinforce links with people it already deals with.
