Iwi and hapu are to be canvassed on how Maori ancestral remains should be officially welcomed home from overseas; Ngati Wai people will hikoi through Whangarei today, to protest at plans to settle Treaty claims over Hauturu - Little Barrier - without including the wider iwi; A southern Taranaki iwi says they are pleased with how the Ministry of Economic Development's new Iwi Relationships manager is engaging with Maori over mineral exploration plans; Bay of Plenty Maori are being invited to a conference in Tauranga this month to build better relations with the regional council and to play a bigger part in enhancing the prosperity of the region.
