A Taranaki iwi is considering whether a local kura should become a charter school - which could potentially give it greater autonomy and might allow it break away from the national curriculum; The principal of a decile one school in Northland says removing decile rankings will not address the real issue of Pakeha parents stereotyping Maori pupils; A career service for teenagers in Gisborne is closing after sixteen years - but other groups are stepping in to fill the gap; A Waikato University researcher is carrying out a study into bringing up Maori children, after receiving a grant of more than 500 thousand dollars.
