Senior Maori representatives in Tamaki Makaurau want Auckland Council to re-think its decision to leave them out of a key vote on the city's budget; Te Arawa kaumatua, Toby Curtis, is calling for its women to have the right to take up key tribal roles; Te Rarawa says its Treaty settlement will provide support for its people - in the same way a pa would have protected tribal descendants; The Queensland Police Service says the gifting of two traditional Maori cloaks at a ceremony tomorrow is hugely significant, and demonstrates the on-going commitment and positive relations with the local Maori community.
