A comprehensive report on practical ways to tackle child poverty says the Government should continue to fund Whanau Ora - the health and welfare scheme designed for Maori; The report also puts a strong focus on housing - saying the Government must take immediate action to ensure that Maori families are able to live in high quality housing so their children grow up healthy; The Atihau Trust in Whanganui is embarking on a project to insulate 60 houses for its beneficiaries in the region over the next year; Replacement health service providers have been found to take over the work done by a soon-to-close Maori organisation at the top of the South Island; The Tauranga iwi, Ngati Pukenga, is on its way to settling its grievances with the Crown.
