You may not have heard of Rich Mixture but he's been in a huge number of 'underground' bands since the early nineties, many of them part of Auckland's"Frisbee Scene", including Shaft, The Rainy Days, Snitches, and The Rock And Roll Machine. Probably the most famous was The D4, in which he was the founding drummer - but Rich Mixture's not just an amazing sticksman; he can play guitar, bass, keyboards and piano and is an accomplished singer/songwriter in his own right - and apart from a few guitar lessons as a nine-year-old, he's completely self taught. Music reporter Richard Wain met Rich and his friends.
