Short of cash and near starving, Human Instinct, the first Kiwi group on the highly competitive UK circuit, finally got their breakthrough. At first it was playing low paid pubs and support gigs but their willingness to give anything a go and deliver a harder edge sound soon saw them playing alongside Spencer Davis Group, Jeff Beck, 10-Years After, the Small Faces and other headlining acts of the era. With half a dozen singles recorded in London and critical acclaim they believed they were headed for the big time.
