Mott The Hoople Reunion
All The Way To London: A Rock & Roll Obsession

Saturday 5 December 2009

Mott The Hoople Reunion 2009
For a short time in the early 1970s Mott The Hoople were the next big thing. In 1971 David Bowie wrote and produced their first hit, All The Young Dudes. A year later, their album 'Mott' was being lauded as the best album of 1973. But by the end of 1974 the group disbanded with leader Ian Hunter setting out on a solo career that extends to this day. In addition to their recorded legacy, the band left thousands of obsessive fans, convinced that Mott was the greatest band on the planet. Now, after 35 years of answering the question, Mott The who??, those fans have a reason to cheer again. At the beginning of October 2009 the five original members of Mott The Hoople reunited for the first time since their breakup for five shows at London's Hammersmith Apollo theatre. Marty Duda was one of those obsessive fans back in the 70s and he travelled to London to see all five shows. Marty spoke to band members past and present, to other fans who travelled from all parts of the planet to witness this exercise in rock and amp; roll fanaticism, along with well-known fans such as Mick Jones of The Clash. Find out what makes grown men revert to teary-eyed teenagers with Marty Duda and 'Mott The Hoople - The Reunion: All The Way To London, A Rock and amp; Roll Obsession'. 4 December 2009.
