Tiny Ruins Live at the Crystal Palace (video)

From RNZ Music, 4:05 pm on 23 August 2014

Hollie Fullbrook and band perform songs from their critically acclaimed album Brightly Painted One at the Crystal Palace, a disused movie theatre on Auckland's Mt Eden Road.

When Tiny Ruins performed at the Crystal Palace – a disused movie theatre on Auckland's Mt Eden Road, in June 2014, the queue went 'round the block.

They were performing songs from the critically acclaimed album Brightly Painted One.

The four-piece was created by principal singer-songwriter Hollie Fullbrook. Tiny Ruins are Hollie, Cass Basil (bass), Alexander Freer (drums) and Tom Healy (guitar).

For this special one-off performance, they're joined by Finn Scholes playing trumpet and a selection of keyboards (which are as old as the venue), and Siobhanne Thompson on Violin, baby trumpet and vibraphone.

The band perform songs from their two albums, Some Were meant For Sea, and the 2014 NZ Music Award winning Best Alternative Album, Brightly Painted One.

Radio New Zealand engineer Andre Upston was on deck to capture the performance, ensuring RNZ Music listeners a front row seat.
