Susan Alcorn is one of the most highly regarded pedal steel players in the world. The instrument is a modified lap steel guitar, featuring foot pedals and knee levers which enable the player to bend and shift the notes - best known in the yearning tones of country western music.
Alcorn has taken the instrument in entirely new, and for the traditionalists- uncomfortable directions.
Currently on a New Zealand tour she joins Emma Smith down the line from Christchurch.
