The Renderers

Maryrose Crook and her husband Brian are the heart and soul of The Renderers. They formed in Christchurch in 1989, Maryrose's fragile vocals working with Brian's atmospheric yet often raucous guitar parts to beautiful effect. However, Ghosts Of Our Vegas Lives isn't really a Renderers album at all - it's Maryrose Crook's solo debut with The Renderers, and it's taken years to finish and be released - Maryrose started another career as a painter in the meantime,and became a mother. Ultimately the recording only saw the light of day thanks to a contractual obligation to Creative NZ. The Music Mix's Richard Wain spoke with Maryrose and Brian Crook.
