Ex-Mint Chicks singer Kody Nielson steps out with Electric Hawaii - his debut solo record under the name Opossom. It features his partner, Bic Runga, another Mint Chick, Michael Logie, plus his father, Chris Nielson. Unsurprisingly, the album's genre- and era-mashed psychedelic pop bears some comparison with his brother Ruban's latest outing as Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Kody explains to Sam Wicks how Opossom ties together the threads of his musical interests and his ancestry.
