When sample master DJ Shadow released his album 'Entroducing' in 1996, he was known for going into record stores and moving copies of it from the Acid Jazz and trip hop bins to the hip hop section, where he rightfully believed his beat-driven debut belonged. Late 2010, Shadow indulged in more retail subversion when he planted unmarked slabs of 12-inch vinyl with new music from him in a handful of Eastern European record stores, waiting for unsuspecting crate diggers to make a discovery. Ahead of Shadow's Auckland show in July 2011, Sam Wicks talked to him about leaving vinyl clues.
