Rob Thorne's background includes making experimental and guitar music through the 90s in Palmerston North, but now the Ngati Tumutumu man is focused on playing Taonga Puoro, Maori Instruments. He's written academic papers on the instruments, with a focus on the tools that were traditionally used to make them. He speaks about the journey that led him to Taonga Puoro.
