Senator Bob Brown - the last referendum on Australia becoming a republic was held in 1999. It divided a nation and ended in a bad defeat for the republican movement. Now, Australian Greens leader, Bob Brown has introduced a bill that would lead to another referendum, in 2010.

Christopher Brosius, American perfumerer creates unique scents at his New York perfume gallery, "CB I Hate Perfume", that mimic real life smells, as well as perfumes designed for the individual.

Alex Monteith, a new media artist and academic whose work incorporates sound, performance, photography, film, video, kinetic and network components. Her large-scale works involve collaboration with specialists from outside the art-world including sheep-dog triallists and New Zealand racing motorcyclists. She has also been a professional surfer representing the country of her birth, Ireland.

American businessman and blind adventurer Mike May was totally blinded at age three from an explosion of calcium carbide. At the age of 46 he regained partial sight after cornea transplants and pioneering stem cell procedure. He runs the Sendero Group which employes many blind people and assists those with disabilities by using technology.

Robert Shearman is a writer, playwright, and director - and will be in New Zealand next month for Writers and Readers week at the New Zealand Festival of Arts.
