Dr Waitoki set 18 Maori psychologists the challenge of writing about 'Ripeka', a fictional young woman facing very real mental health challenges. The result was 'Te Manu Kai i Te Matauranga: Indigenous Psychology in Aotearoa/ New Zealand.'
