How do we encourage empathy in children? It's not just about putting yourself in someone else's shoes, it's also about being able to respond with care, says Massey University Associate Professor of Psychology Sarb Johal.

Talking to Kathryn Ryan he explains that learning empathy starts young and a lot comes down to what empathy we show others. It's a matter of 'show don't tell'.
