Midwives negotiate overhaul of funding
From July community based midwives will get a 6 per cent pay rise. The $8 million dollar package was agreed to by the government in return for the College of Midwives withdrawing its high profile equal pay court challenge, lodged in 2015. Under the deal, the pay rise is an interim measure, while a fundamental overhaul of the way community midwives are paid is negotiated. Kathryn talks with the Acting Chief Executive of the College of Midwives, Alison Eddy.
