George Jelinek

From Nine To Noon, 9:33 am on 3 September 2009

Professor George Jelinek's mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in her 40s and took her own life at the age of 58, when she was severely disabled. Australian emergency medicine specialist, Dr George Jelinek was himself diagnosed with the degenerative disease just a few years later. The successful emergency doctor, medical journal editor and father of three was devastated, particularly when doctors told him there was very little that could be done. So Dr Jelinek set off to read every scrap of research into the disease and has come up with a range of alternative therapies and lifestyle changes which he swears by.
