Feature Guest - Brenda Milner

From Nine To Noon, 10:06 am on 21 June 2013

Dr Brenda Milner has been described as the founder of neuropsychology. She's known for her pioneering work in the study of memory and cognitive function in humans. Her most famous case involved a patient known as HM who suffered amnesia after part of his brain was removed in the 1950s in a bid to control his severe epilepsy. As a result he could not remember new events, but Dr Milner showed he was still able to learn new motor skills, which introduced the concept of multiple memory systems within the brain. Despite being almost 95 years old Brenda Milner continues to work.
