Calls for an inquiry into the use of surgical mesh

The Health Select Committee is considering a petition calling for a full independent inquiry into the use of surgical mesh in New Zealand. With Charlotte Korte and Carmel Berry - the two women behind the petition, who both suffered serious complications from mesh implants. Dr Hanifa Koya is a gynaecologist at Wellington's Wakefield hospital and has removed more than 50 surgical mesh implants from patients and says there are serious problems with its use, and women are not being adequately informed.
