With all the talk of national literacy and numeracy standards in schools, the place of education in our society is once again, under debate. Timely then that there's a review of special education taking place. Might be a chance to look at what needs to happen to make schools an easier place for disabled children to learn alongside their non-disabled peers.

Someone who's done a lot of thinking in this area is educationalist Roger Slee. Currently working out of the University of London's Institute of Education. Roger Slee believes while it's true that the way schools are set up mirror what's happening in the wider society, there's more to it than that…
