More than 90,000 in New Zealand are thought to be on the autism spectrum. Last month, a conference was held in Hamilton for people with lived experience of autism and Aspergers, their families and for clinicians and professionals who work with autistic people.

Carol Stiles this week speaks to ‘aspies’, as they call themselves, about the perceptions around the way they experience life and how, for many aspies, the use of social media and the internet has opened up a new world for them.
