Albatrosses

From Our Changing World, 9:46 pm on 21 August 2008

Wildlife photographers Tui de Roy and Mark Jones have spent the past few years travelling the oceans in search of albatrosses.

Their aim was to photograph all albatross species for a new book on the birds' natural history and conservation.

New Zealand's subantarctic islands are home to many albatross species - and one of their last voyages took them to Campbell Island, a World Heritage site where six different albatrosses breed, including the Southern Royal albatross.

Natural history writer Alison Ballance travelled with them and spoke with Tui about her fascination with the majestic birds.
