Friday, June 10 2011, marks the 125th anniversary of the Mt Tarawera eruption, which left about 150 people dead and buried the famous Pink and White Terraces under more than 50m of water. An international science team, which used a torpedo-like submersible vehicle to map the floor of Lake Rotomahana in January, found part of the Pink Terraces then. This week, following further analysis of the data, the team announced the discovery of remnants of the White Terraces on the lake floor.
