Henry Porter is the UK editor of Vanity Fair magazine, and writes for the Observer newspaper and Guardian website. He has written five novels, and his first children's book was published last year. His new book The Dying Light (Orion, ISBN: 978-0-7528-7638-2) is a thriller based around the erosion of civil liberties.

Photographer, jazz musician and entrepreneur Matt Mullenweg is the co-founder of the popular open-source blogging software and hosting service WordPress, which runs millions of weblogs around the world. Matt is one of PC World's Top 50 People on the Web, Inc.com's 30 under 30, and Business Week's 25 Most Influential People on the Web. He blogs at ma.tt, and is visiting Wellington for WordCamp New Zealand, an "unconference" for WordPress users (8-9 August).

Linda Bryder is Professor of History at the University of Auckland, and is the author of the 1991 book A Healthy Country: Essays on the Social History of Medicine in New Zealand (Bridget Williams Books), and the 2003 book A Voice for Mothers: The Plunket Society and Infant Welfare 1907-200 (AUP). Her new book is A History of the 'Unfortunate Experiment' at National Women's Hospital (AUP, 978-1-86940-435-2).

10:05 Pinchas Zukerman

Violinist, violist, conductor, teacher and chamber musician Pinchas Zukerman performs with many of the world's orchestras, and has held numerous musical director positions. His extensive discography contains more than 100 titles. He visits New Zealand to perform three concerts with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, conducted by James Judd, in Auckland from 13-15 August. His chamber ensemble, the Zukerman Chamber Players, featuring Jessica Linnebach (violin), Jethro Marks (viola), Ashan Pillai (viola) and Amanda Forsyth (cello), commence a Chamber Music New Zealand tour in New Plymouth on 10 August (sold out), then travel to Wellington (12 August), Auckland (15 August), Dunedin (16 August), Christchurch (17 August) and Napier (18 August).

American litigator and mediator J. Anderson "Andy" Little has been instrumental in changing the court system in his home state of North Carolina, and is the author of the 2007 book, Making Money Talk: How to Mediate Insured Claims and Other Monetary Disputes (American Bar Association, ISBN: 978-1-59031-825-6). He is visiting Wellington for the annual conference of the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand, as well as other speaking engagements.

Kate De Goldi was the winner of the Readers' Choice Award at the 2009 Montana New Zealand Book Awards for The 10pm Question (Longacre Press, ISBN 978-1-87746-020-3). She will discuss the work of British writer and illustrator John Burningham, whose books include Borka: The Adventures of a Goose With No Feathers (Cape, 1963), Trubloff: The Mouse Who Wanted to Play the Balalaika (Cape, 1964), John Burningham's ABC (Cape, 1970), Mr Gumpy's Outing (Cape, 1970), Come Away from the Water, Shirley (Cape, 1977), The Shopping Basket (Cape, 1980), Oi!
