Peter Brook has been acclaimed since the 1960s as one of the world's finest directors and innovators of stage and screen. His new production, 11 and 12, explores a post-colonial Africa torn apart by internal strife. It premiered in Paris in November 2009 and will play at the 2010 New Zealand International Arts Festival from 10-14 March, the first Brook production to travel to this country.

Robert Connolly is the director (Three Dollars, The Bank) and producer (Romulus My Father, The Boys) of many successful Australian films. His latest feature, Balibo, is a dramatisation of the story of Australian-based journalists the Balibo Five and Roger East during the Indonesian invasion of East Timor in 1975. It opened in New Zealand cinemas on 18 February.

During the interview, Kim referred to the book, If You Leave Us Here, We Will Die: How Genocide Was Stopped In East Timor by Geoffrey Robinson (Footprint, ISBN: 9780691135366).
